F.A.I.C. and Tourism Policies

The FORA of the civil societies was established in the late 1990s – early 2000s, following the need to rebuild the war-damaged relationships between the involved territories of the times.

Today, with the launch of the EUSAIR strategy, the FORA have the opportunity of revitalizing the territory in the eyes of Europe by working on issues that are linked to the socio-economic development of the Adriatic and Ionian area.

In particular, the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Cities has focused its activities to a specific target group of citizens, representing a most productive and very active terrain in terms of conveying and promoting European values to, for example, the youth.

The instrument chosen was sports and sporting events. This tool represents a rapidly growing tourism segment throughout Europe. It evokes positive values, such as healthy living, sociability, discipline and rigor as a healthy formative method.

The experimentation of the AI Youth Games event held in Ancona during the years 2014 and 2016 can be transformed and consolidated into good practices that can spread to all the countries in the AI area, replicated in well-studied formulas at other times of the year.

The experimentation of the AI Youth Games event held in Ancona in years 2014 and 2016 can turn into good practices, which can be consolidated, diffused and replicated throughout all the countries in the AI area through well-studied formulas in other periods of the year. It is a virtuous path endorsed by the macro-region as an important element of the area’s tourism economy.
